Compliance@Hellmann

Compliance is not a self-purpose. Today, solid and effective compliance management is not only a legally required must-have to meet regulatory expectations but also to meet rising expectations from customers and business partners. At Hellmann, we are running a professional Compliance Management System. Our Global Compliance Department acts as a reliable consultant and compliance risk manager for Hellmann managers and employees. We are proud that conducting business with Hellmann means business with a business partner who does the right things right.

Hellmann’s approach to compliance

Hellmann is committed to being a socially responsible corporate citizen in many areas ranging from the environment, employment practices, safety, to diversity. For Hellmann business success means sustainable success by conducting business in an ethical and compliant matter. Since Hellmann condemns any kind of bribery and corruption while believing in fair and strong competition, we are a member of the renowned Compliance and Anti Bribery organization TRACE.

The Hellmann Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct is the backbone of all our business activities. It is the ethical compass for everyone at Hellmann to provide guidance and raise awareness for what is the right way to act. As a binding guideline for legally compliant and ethically responsible conduct in our company, the Code of Conduct also defines the standard for responsible behavior towards business partners and the public, as well as in dealings with each other within the company. Everyone in the company - employees and management - is obliged to comply with the principles set out therein.

Our Three Pillars of Compliance Management

The structural basis for Hellmann’s comprehensive Compliance Management System is the recognized "Three Pillar Model", which is designed for continuous improvement. This consists of the three pillars: PREVENT, DETECT & REACT. These individual pillars do not stand independently from each other but complement each other in a logical cycle. A measure designed for prevention - such as a compliance policy - is implemented (prevent). This measure, its effectiveness, and appropriateness are regularly reviewed (detect) and, if necessary, revised (react). This in turn closes the circle, resulting in an improved prevention measure.

Compliance Training

Hellmann follows a blended training approach of e-learning and face-to-face training. To this end, an IT system has been implemented to monitor and control the automatic assignment of compliance training. Each new employee is immediately assigned compliance training, which is then reassigned annually. The blended training approach is completed by face-to-face training. For this purpose in person trainings in specific compliance topics are provided.
