Consolidation and distribution center in Nieder-Olm for the worldwide supply of Endress+Hauser's B2B markets
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has been operating a consolidation and distribution center in Nieder-Olm for the Swiss group Endress+Hauser (E+H) since 2014 to supply B2B markets worldwide. E+H is a leading supplier of high-quality measuring equipment, services and solutions for industrial process technology and automation.
In order to optimize its supply structure and overall logistics costs, E+H was looking for an internationally active logistics partner who is an expert in the areas of interim storage, shipment consolidation and crossdocking. The ability to work exclusively on E+H's transport management system was also a prerequisite.
By implementing a central handling point at the Hellmann site in Nieder-Olm, the consolidation potential for E+H is fully exploited on a daily basis. Thus, shipments from all European production sites of E+H converge at this location, where they are stored, consolidated with intermediately stored orders or directly (crossdocking) prepared for worldwide shipment. Between 2,500 and 3,000 items are processed by Hellmann for E+H inbound and outbound every day in this way. The material flow is identified and controlled via the barcodes read for each package in the incoming goods department. Loose shipments are automatically weighed, measured and labeled using conveyor technology. The widespread use of mobile scanners and printers at the site ensures seamless shipment tracking from incoming goods to outgoing goods. Qualification as a "regulated agent" also makes time and logistical advantages possible in air freight handling. The provision of national and international special transports completes Hellmann's range of services.
