Starting Situation

Verbatim's requirements focused on finding a reliable full-service logistics partner who is an expert in the efficient warehousing, finishing and transport of high-quality and sensitive products from the information technology and lighting sectors. A high level of delivery readiness and a comprehensive transport network were just as much a prerequisite as optimum personnel availability in the event of seasonal fluctuations in demand.

»The flexible logistics concept of a multi-user site in combination with the IT industry expertise and the connected transport services have convinced us of Hellmann sustainably.«

Solution

In strict compliance with FIFO principles, Hellmann's multi-user warehouse in Osnabrück handles up to 350 pallets in incoming goods and up to 620 parcels and 220 pallets in outgoing goods every day. Production is paperless in a multi-shift system. Full pallets and individual items are picked. The goods are stored on 3,000 m² and 12,000 pallet spaces in a combination of shelving, normal aisle racking and fully automatic high-bay racking. All relevant information is recorded electronically and transferred to Verbatim's ERP system, including inventory, quality indicators and blocking keys. Elaborate and large-volume (up to one million individual items per month) value-added services in the form of reworks, HDD kitting, labeling, packaging, etc. are part of Hellmann's daily scope of services, as is the processing of returns.
