Why STIHL chose Hellmann as its logistics partner – insights into a future-ready central warehouse
To support international growth efficiently, STIHL partnered with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics to establish a state-of-the-art central logistics center in Völklingen, Saarland. Since going live in 2022, Hellmann has been handling STIHL’s European distribution from a 57,000 m² facility – strengthening the global supply chain of the long-established company. The partnership demonstrates how scalable contract logistics, modern technologies, and shared values can create a supply chain that is both flexible and future-proof.
Starting Situation
The STIHL Group is one of the world's leading manufacturers of power tools and battery-operated equipment for forestry, landscaping, construction, and home use. With rapid growth, especially in the battery segment, STIHL required a powerful logistics solution to meet increasing demand. The goal was to centralize global distribution through a single hub – with the flexibility to handle seasonal peaks and the complexity of import/export processes.
Solution
Since 2022, Hellmann has been operating STIHL’s central warehouse in Völklingen under a long-term ten-year contract. Strategically located near the tri-border region of Germany, France, and Luxembourg, the site is ideally positioned to serve STIHL subsidiaries and dealers across Germany, France, the Benelux countries, Austria, and Switzerland.
