Wilo & Hellmann: Strategic Logistics Partnership for a Global B2B Supply Chain

Wilo was looking for a strategic logistics partner with a global network, a broad service portfolio, and a strong infrastructure to optimally support its growth objectives.

Key requirements included flexible production supply, global distribution of finished goods, and seamless integration into existing IT systems. Wilo also placed great importance on innovation, sustainability, and the ability to scale with increasing volumes and complexity.

 

In 2022, Hellmann implemented a tailored logistics solution at its Werne site, initially covering 20,000 m² and operated by around 40 employees. To meet Wilo’s dynamic growth, the facility was expanded in 2023 and 2024, including a doubling of warehouse capacity. 

The new building was designed with sustainability in mind, featuring a photovoltaic system for on-site power generation.

Scope of Services

• Production supply with raw materials directly to the Wilo plant
• Receipt and inbound processing of finished goods
• Order-based preparation of finished goods for Wilo’s global subsidiaries
• Packaging, dispatch planning, and shipping via Road, Sea, Air, CEP, and factory shuttle services
• Customs declarations processed directly from Werne

Automation and Innovation

• Automated packaging system for efficient shipping processes
• Wearables (smartwatches) for digital task management of employees
• Mobile trailer movement on-site using a “Master Mover” to increase productivity and safety

IT System Integration

• Production supply is managed directly through Wilo’s SAP system
• Hellmann uses its own warehouse management system LFS v8 for controlling finished goods processes, ensuring flexibility and transparency

With this scalable, technology-driven, and sustainable logistics solution, Hellmann has created a foundation that enables Wilo to design its international supply chain to be efficient, transparent, and ready for continued growth.
