Continuous improvement process (CIP)

With "Making it work better, everyday", Hellmann has anchored the principle of the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) in its corporate DNA. Hellmann sees this as a commitment to continuously put processes to the test and to tap optimization potential in a targeted manner with the aim of coming closer to the "lean freight forwarding" with standardized and fast processes.

The continuous improvement process (CIP) gives every single employee the opportunity to help shape the processes at the workplace and to optimize their own work processes. Managers play an important role here, because they are the drivers of CIP. They constantly motivate their employees to put their work processes to the test within their own team as well as in cooperation with others and to standardize processes. Sustainability is achieved by means of process performance indicators/CIP boards.

The Model Logistics Center

A central component of CIP is the involvement and regular training of employees. The central training is the Model Logistics Center (MLC). In the MLC, the principles of the lean logistics process are taught both in theoretical blocks and independently applied in practical simulation exercises. In 4 rounds of games, employees learn which methods are used to eliminate waste and bring about improvements. The participants leave the MLC highly motivated, because they have made changes in the process themselves and experienced that changes are fun and make work easier. In 2013, the MLC was awarded the International German Training Award in silver.

In 2015, we achieved seventh place among the most successful training companies in the ranking of "Best Azubi 2015," Germany's largest knowledge competition for aspiring forwarding and logistics service clerks. We were awarded the Goldjupiter in 2012. With this honorary award, the Wirtschaftskomitee Deutschland e. The Goldjupiter is Germany's highest business award and is presented only one hundred times in Europe.

International German Training Award

Our Hellmann academy, the department for personnel development, received the International German Training Award in silver for the Model Logistics Center (MLC) at the "Zukunft Personal" trade fair in Cologne on September 26, 2012. The International German Training Award honors training concepts with outstandingly high quality in terms of target and participant orientation, innovative didactics and imaginative, motivating method selection.
