The evening began with a warm welcome from Jens Drewes, CEO of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, who opened the event with an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of partnership, innovation, and sustainability in shaping the future of logistics. The ceremony brought together industry leaders and Hellmann’s leading global carrier partners, representing both full container load and less-than-container load services.

The festive evening featured a specially curated Christmas dinner, an exquisite wine tasting, and lively conversations among industry leaders. Adding a touch of fun to the evening, a quiz saw participants competing for charity: an EUR 500 donation to WarChild in the name of the winning team.

To determine the winners of the Carrier of the Year Awards, a comprehensive survey was conducted among Hellmann Seafreight operators worldwide. More than 350 employees and partners participated, casting their votes to evaluate carrier performance. The survey assessed a series of key performance indicators (KPIs) that provided detailed insights into the carriers’ performance, enabling an objective and transparent evaluation process. With these awards, we aim to express our respect and deep appreciation for the outstanding support and partnership of our carriers. We believe this approach differentiates Hellmann as a company and strengthens our position in the industry. The consistently excellent feedback we receive each year reaffirms the value and success of this initiative.

This year marked a significant step forward in Hellmann’s dedication to sustainable logistics with the introduction of the Sustainability Impact Award. For the first time in the history of the Carrier of the Year Awards, a special category was created to honor carriers that go above and beyond in advancing sustainable practices in the industry, and the winner is HMM.

Helge Neumann-Lezius, Director Seafreight FCL and one of the hosts of the evening, emphasized the significance of this new award:

"Sustainability is not just a trend; it’s a responsibility we all share. With the introduction of the Sustainability Impact Award, we are proud to recognize carriers like HMM, who are shaping a greener future for the logistics industry. Tonight is a celebration of partnership, innovation, and the collective impact we can achieve together."

As a gesture of appreciation and to reinforce shared values, Hellmann donated EUR 5,000 in HMM's name to The Ocean Cleanup, an organization dedicated to reducing plastic pollution in oceans. This collaboration underscores the importance of joint efforts in tackling environmental challenges and highlights how strong partnerships can drive positive change across the logistics sector.

 
By introducing the Sustainability Impact Award, Hellmann demonstrates how partnerships with carriers can go beyond operational excellence to actively address global challenges. HMM’s recognition, coupled with the donation to The Ocean Cleanup, sets a standard for future collaborations aimed at sustainability. The evening provided a platform to celebrate shared achievements and to inspire all partners to contribute to shaping a greener, more sustainable logistics industry.
