The day began with a warm welcome from the management team at Hellmann and presentations from all the special guests. The students were then divided into two groups and given an in-depth tour of the warehouse. They learned about the services Hellmann provides, including transportation, warehousing, and customs brokerage. They were also given an overview of the company’s global operations and the challenges and opportunities associated with working in international logistics and supply chain management.

The highlight of the event was the guest speakers who shared their inspiring stories and advice with the students. Peter Huewel, the Americas CEO, shared his career journey and some of the unique experiences he had on the road to becoming the CEO.

Miami-Dade County School Board Vice-Chair Danny Espino emphasized the importance of education and hard work in achieving success. He also praised Hellmann for providing an opportunity for students to learn about the logistics industry.

“Miami is a place where you can always come and rise above everything else, and nothing helps you have a leg up than an opportunity to work in a place like Hellmann,” said Danny Espino.

Tatiana Palma, Miami branch manager, spoke about her journey moving from Colombia to the US for better career opportunities and the importance of passion and commitment in any job. She encouraged the students to do their best and to never underestimate the opportunities that might arise.

“Whatever you do, do it with passion and commitment, and do it right. You never know who is watching and what opportunities might be out there,” said Tatiana Palma.

One of the students was particularly impressed by the representation of leadership positions held by women in the company.

“My favorite part of this event was seeing so many women represented in the leadership, from the head of marketing to the head of HR to the branch manager. I love the representation!” said the student.

Overall, the event was a great success, providing the students with valuable insight into the logistics and supply chain industry. Hellmann hopes to continue supporting the education of future generations and inspiring them to consider logistics and supply chain management as an outstanding career option.
