In the coming months, HEX will continue its rollout across additional markets in the Americas, as well as in the APAC, IMEA, and Europe regions. What makes HEX so successful, and where is it heading? We spoke with Timo Schamber, Global Airfreight Vice President Courier Express Parcel (CEP), about the next steps.

Hi Timo, HEX was launched in Germany about a year ago. Since then, things have moved forward. What is your interim conclusion?

Timo Schamber: The response has been very positive, both internally and from our customers. We have successfully established HEX in Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States. Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic, the UAE, Mexico, South Africa, and many other markets are set to follow. Our partners benefit from extremely easy access to global express networks, with just one interface, one invoice, and one dedicated point of contact. That is a real game changer.

What makes HEX particularly attractive for companies in an international context?

Timo Schamber: Clearly the combination of cost efficiency, software solution, and customer service. Thanks to our globally negotiated contracts with express carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL Express, companies gain access to highly competitive conditions without needing to sign their own carrier agreements. Our software makes handling easier than ever. On top of that, HEX includes a dedicated customer service team, operated in-house. This is a major benefit, especially for small and mid-sized companies.

What’s next for HEX and your department?

Timo Schamber: We aim to establish HEX in more than 45 countries by the end of 2026 and are on a very good path. From a technology perspective, we are continuously developing the solution together with our partner Shipsy, always with the goal of making the user experience even more intuitive, faster, and smarter. But HEX is just the beginning. Our department is growing rapidly, and we are already working intensively on a new Airfreight E-Commerce product that we plan to launch later this year. We are also taking a closer look at the time-critical air freight segment and will develop a dedicated setup for that as well. There is a lot ahead.

Thank you, Timo.
