Rasmus, can you give us a quick overview of your background and your role within the Renewables vertical?

Rasmus: Certainly. I began my career at Hellmann through a dual study program in Germany which combines academic studies with practical experience across departments with stops in South Africa, Chile, and the US. Over the past eight years, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of logistics from innovative smart solutions to leading renewable energy business development across the Americas. My role focuses on driving tailored logistics strategies that address the complexities of this rapidly growing market.

The renewables market is changing fast. What major trends are you seeing that impact logistics?

Rasmus: The market is evolving, and one significant trend is the increasing size and weight of solar modules and battery energy storage systems, which can weigh up to 42 tons. These require highly specialized equipment, permitting processes, and precise route planning to ensure safe and efficient transport. Another important factor is the regional variation across the Americas.

In the US, the nearshoring of solar module manufacturing has accelerated so quickly that domestic production capacity is now outpacing installation rates. That changes the logistics profile too because instead of importing finished modules, the focus is shifting toward raw material imports, last-mile distribution, and warehousing. With that shift, we also see new competitors entering the market to support these changing needs.

In contrast, Latin America remains more import-driven, particularly around large utility-scale solar projects. There, the pace of growth is very dependent on the political and regulatory environment in each country. From our perspective, Colombia and Mexico are especially exciting as both show good potential for significant growth in the renewable energy space.
