Hellmann invests in the qualified workers of the future: 190 apprentices start their careers

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has been able to recruit 190 apprentices from 24 nations to start their careers in Germany's third-largest economic sector. Thus, the company is returning to "pre-Covid levels" in terms of its number of trainees and can build on its record year in 2019.

After two years of digital kick-offs, Hellmann once again welcomed all new trainees to a varied, multi-day event on-site at the company's headquarters in Osnabrück on August 1 under the motto #futurelogisticshero. There, a varied program with team-building measures and basic information on the start of training awaited the trainees.

The global family-owned company has succeeded in increasing the number of trainees in Germany by around 11 percent compared to the previous year. A key success factor is the corporate principles that Hellmann has firmly anchored in its training concept which are tangible for the junior staff right from the start: Sustainability, equal opportunities, and diversity are particularly in focus alongside digitalization and are selection criteria for many young colleagues when choosing a training company.

"The lack of qualified workers was noticeable in our company and challenged us greatly. I am therefore all the more pleased that, following the record sales year of 2021, we were also able to convince many junior employees of our varied training program. The fact that we were appointed as the top training company for the fourth time in a row this year in the study ‘Germany's Best Trainers’, shows that we are on the right track and allows us to continue to look positively into the future: For example, it is very important for us to offer the opportunity to gain experience in an intercultural environment for our trainees and to not only develop professionally but also personally," says Sven Eisfeld, Managing Director Germany, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
