How to move an entire Thermoelectric Plant from Austria to Chile

The EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) is a well-known company with a presence in over 40 countries spread over five continents. It is one of the leading companies dedicated to Pulp and Paper / Hydro / Energy Projects with its headquarters in Graz, Austria.

Starting Situation

The company was awarded the construction of new air pollution equipment for two of the most important Chilean Thermoelectric plants. The Austrian company responsible for the equipment supply searched for a logistics supplier to provide a solution in the full door to door handling of the project logistics movement including lay down storage management.

Solution

Hellmann Project Cargo was chosen to provide the complete logistics to move approximately 20,000 tons of freight to the destination. One is located in the Atacama Desert, North Chile, and the second one at an approximately 100 km distance from the capital Santiago. The complete operation including alternative lay down facility management, port supervision and surveying for each shipment up to final delivery required continuous communication and coordination between all contractors responsible in the process.

The successful completion of these shipments delivering 20,000 freight tons of oversize project cargo to our client earned Hellmann Project Cargo Chile the recognition deserved for the overall project management and coordination in delivering a successful project once again on time and on budget.
