TMHDE has its headquarters in Isernhagen near Hanover. In April 2007, the company emerged from the merger of Toyota Gabelstapler Deutschland and BT Deutschland. Starting Situation

Toyota Material Handling's central warehouse in Isernhagen stocks over 18,000 original Toyota spare parts. From this stock, more than 340 of the company's own service technicians, 16 authorized dealers including their workshops and service technicians, and several thousand direct customers throughout Germany are supplied by overnight express.

Spare parts logistics is of elementary importance for Toyota's after-sales service. A lack of spare parts means that customers' industrial trucks cannot be fully serviced or repaired and, in the worst case scenario, equipment downtime is unintentional. Due to these time-critical requirements, absolutely reliable delivery by the overnight express service provider is essential. Delivery of the urgently needed original spare parts must be made by 7:00 a.m. the next morning.

Solution

As Night Star Express shareholder, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics formed a separate project team together with Toyota Material Handling Germany. The goal was to integrate the Night Star Express principle of night depot pickup and delivery into THMDE's existing processes. In order to get to know and understand each process step in detail, close cooperation was established with the management of TMHDE spare parts logistics. The common goal is to achieve a "0 defect" rate.

In addition to spare parts logistics, Night Star Express also performs another task for Toyota Material Handling: Every Friday, the service technicians' worn work clothes are collected and a fresh set is placed in the vehicle.
